Intensive Throwing Weeks

COST: £675

These weeks, designed for all abilities from beginners to professionals, will give you the opportunity to practice and improve throwing without distraction. The week is dedicated to the tutored improvement of solid practical throwing skills.

For students wishing to increase the size of their pots there will be unlimited good quality freshly prepared clay. You will be tutored in how to manipulate larger weights of clay and to create pots in 2 or more parts.

2024 Dates

April 22nd-26th

1 place left

June 17th-21st

October 7th-11th

Cylindrical forms ,bellied forms, bowls, plates, lids and galleries can all be covered. Familiarity and confidence comes with repetitive practice. This week may well be hard work and concentrated but it will also be fun.  All students will leave with new and improved skills and with greater confidence in your abilities on the wheel.

The course is designed to improve and expand your skills on the wheel (and off it) rather than to accumulate pots. Any pots you might want to keep (maximum of 3 per day, maximum 15 cubic foot of kiln space) can be collected later after firing. There is a modest charge for materials.

Ruardean Garden Pottery is a professional production workshop established in 1979. For 25 years the pottery produced a wide range of wheel thrown terracotta. Now it concentrates on a much smaller range of thrown traditional garden pottery together with a range of limited edition press moulded plant pots.
